Jonathan’s afterthought visit belated, says ARG





Afenifere Renewal Group, ARG, has described President Goodluck Jonathan’s attempt to woo Yoruba nation for the support of his re-election as "already too late in the day."

Publicity Secretary of the group, Mr. Kunle Famoriyo in statement Sunday, stated, "The Yoruba Progress Summit which was held last Friday is an afterthought and a futile effort to sneak the President into Yoruba land through the backdoor.

JAMB Enugu zonal office in manhunt for impersonator

LAGOS—Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, has commissioned the Lagos Skipper Engineering Academy at the Government Technical College, Ikotun.

The academy which is designed to provide all round instruction with a curriculum that is aligned to the current needs of the industry, entrepreneurship and further education, is the outcome of a collaboration between the Lagos Eko Project, Lagos State Electricity Board, LASTVEB and Skipper Limited. It will complement the current three-year technical education carried out across Lagos State Technical Colleges by focusing on both practical and theoretical training relevant to current industrial and domestic needs.

22 Dogs Killed In Mystery Kennel Blaze

An investigation is under way after 22 dogs died in their cages in a fire in east Yorkshire.
Firefighters said the blaze "totally destroyed" a wooden kennel at a dog breeder's home in Graingers Road, Hornsea.
The owners, who are thought to breed Staffordshire bull terriers, returned to their home on Saturday night to find it alight with the dogs inside.

Schools To Resume On September 22 – FG Says


The Federal government has directed all primary and secondary schools to resume on Monday September 22nd. The resumption date for schools had earlier been postponed to October 13th as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria.

However, the date has been shifted forward to September 22 following a review ordered by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

French Man Jailed for Phoning & Texting Ex-Girlfriend 21,807 Times


A 33-year-old French man has been sent to prison after phoning and texting his ex-girlfriend 21,807 times, admitting that, with hindsight, "it was stupid".

The unnamed defendant, who had made the calls to demand the woman thank him for fixing up their flat, was given a 10-month sentence – six months of which was suspended – and a €1,000 (£793) fine.
